It has only been a hundred years since the first Europeans arrived in the inhabited districts in East Greenland. Therefore the traditional Inuit culture continuously plays an important role in the local communities. In East Greenland the old traditions are being kept alive: Original faith is still reflected in the art and handicrafts made by local artists and drum dance is even now performed. Kulusuk is the gateway to East Greenland. During summer there are daily flights to Reykjavik. The village Kap Dan is found only half an hour walk from the airport. It is a typical settlement where the population still makes a living from hunting and fishing.
